Creating a YouTube banner (channel art) in Photoshop is straightforward once you follow the right dimensions and layout guidelines. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
🔧 Step 1: Set Up Your Document
- Open Photoshop.
- Go to File > New.
- Set the dimensions to:
- Width: 2560 pixels
- Height: 1440 pixels
- Resolution: 72 or 150 PPI (for web)
- Click Create.
🧩 Step 2: Use the Safe Zone Template
YouTube displays the center 1546 x 423 px on all devices (TVs show the full image, desktops and mobiles show less).
- Add a guide or download a YouTube Banner Template PNG with guides (I can provide one if you’d like).
- Mark the safe zone:
- 507 px from each side (2560 – 1546 = 1014 / 2 = 507)
- 508.5 px from top and bottom (1440 – 423 = 1017 / 2 = 508.5)
- Or create a rectangle:
- Size: 1546 x 423 px
- Center it: Align Horizontally and Vertically
🎨 Step 3: Design Your Banner
Design inside the safe zone so it’s visible on all devices.
Ideas to include:
- Channel Name or Logo
- Tagline or upload schedule
- Social media icons or website URL (optional)
- Background image or color gradient
📝 Keep text and logos within the safe zone for best visibility.
💾 Step 4: Export Your Banner
- Go to File > Export > Export As.
- Select JPEG or PNG.
- Set quality to 80-100%.
- Click Export and save.
