✅ METHOD 1: Using Guides (Manual Method)
- Open your document (set to video resolution, e.g., 1920×1080).
- Go to the menu bar:
- View > New Guide Layout…
- In the dialog box:
- Set Margins:
- Top/Bottom: 10% of height (for 1080p: 108 px)
- Left/Right: 10% of width (for 1080p: 192 px)
- Uncheck Columns and Rows if not needed.
- Set Margins:
- Click OK.
This will give you a 10% margin around your canvas — a standard for title-safe and action-safe zones.
✅ METHOD 2: Using Photoshop’s Video Preset (Built-In Guides)
- Go to File > New.
- Choose a Film & Video preset (e.g., 1920×1080 HDTV 1080p).
- Click Create.
- Photoshop automatically includes video safe zone guides for:
- Action-safe (outer box)
- Title-safe (inner box)
If these don’t appear:
- Enable them with View > Show > Video Safe Areas.
✅ METHOD 3: Custom Template (Reusable Option)
If you want a reusable safe zone overlay:
- Create a new layer.
- Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool and Select > Transform Selection to shrink the selection by 10% on each side.
- Stroke the selection (Edit > Stroke) to outline it.
- Save the layer as a Smart Object or Template to reuse.
